This stadium was officially built for Racing Club de Bruxelles right after WWII. Their first stadium Stade du Vivier d'Oie (NL: Ganzenvijver) became too small after the big successes of the team before the second World War.
This stadium was opened with a tribute game against Torino, which were in their golden decades at that time. Only four months after this game most of the team of Torino died in a plane crash.
Stade des Trois Tilleuls is still one of the biggest stadiums in Belgium with a capacity of 40.000 people. The stadium was slightly renovated a few years ago and is on a protected monuments list in Brussels since 2010. These days RRC Boitsfort (6th division) plays in this majestic stadium, likely to be the most beautiful stadium in Belgium.
